How results are ordered
When you search on Elos, the list you see depends on what you asked for — island, dates, category and filters. Within those results, the order is determined by the parameters below, in order of importance.
1. What you asked for
This is the most important parameter and it cannot be bought. A car that is unavailable on your dates, or on a different island, does not appear — no matter what the company pays. You cannot drive between islands in Cabo Verde, so showing you a car on another island would not be a result, it would be a mistake.
2. The sort order you choose
If you choose «cheapest first», «most expensive first» or «by name», that order is respected in full. No payment alters a sort order the user has requested.
3. Paid placement (only under «Recommended»)
In the default order, up to three cars may appear at the top because the company subscribed to featured placement in its plan. Those cars always carry the Sponsored label.
- Each company takes at most one of the slots, so the list is never taken over by a single supplier.
- When more companies have featured placement than there are slots, the slots rotate between them, so none is permanently left out.
- Featured placement does not change the price. The car costs exactly the same whether or not it is at the top.
- Featured placement is not a quality mark, nor a recommendation by Elos. It only means the company subscribed to that position.
4. The rest of the list
Below the sponsored slots, cars appear without any influence from payment.
Can a company pay to rank higher?
Yes, and only in this way: by subscribing to featured placement in its plan, which entitles it to mark a limited number of cars. There is no auction, no pay-per-click, and no way to buy positions beyond the three slots described above. No payment influences availability, price, or the results of a sort order you chose.
